Description
The jasmine plant was brought to China from Persia before the third century. These intoxicatingly fragrant flowers were first blended with tea sometime around the fifth century. The delicate Jasmine flower opens only at night and is plucked in the morning, when the tiny petals are tightly closed. Early in the evening as the temperature cools the petals begin to open. It is reported they emit a "popping" sound as they open, which is the signal for the scenting to begin. The flowers and tea are "mated" in machines that control temperature and humidity. It takes about four hours for the tea leaves to absorb the fragrance and flavor of the Jasmine blossoms.
Because the tea has absorbed moisture from the flowers, it must be refired to prevent spoilage. The spent flowers may or may not be removed from the final product, in the lower grades of Jasmine they generally are not. As the flowers are completely dry and contain no more aroma (moisture), they add only visual appeal and are no indication of the quality of the tea.
Jasmine is one of the world's great teas with its intoxicating aroma and balanced, delicate flavor. Ours premium jasmine Bi Luo Chun is made by fresh green tea with high grade jasmine flowers, the quality is better than ever. You will like this extraordinary jasmine-scented tea. This romantic tea may be enjoyed any time of the day but is especially pleasant in the evening.
Brewing Guide: We recommend a steeping time 1 to 3 minutes with 75º C water. Jasmine Bi Luo Chun may be infused 3 or more times. After the first infusion, you may wish to increase both steeping time and/or water temperature.
